THE BRAGA CITY WALK AT BANDUNG

Braga! There are many people question the need to revitalize braga. They presume that this are has long been a dead commercial area because there are no sufficient parking area areas and it is an uninteresting place for younger generations to visit. Braga, which gained its popularity as bandung’s prestigious shopping street in the period of the twenties to fourties, to these people is simply a romantic memory to remember while some efforts to revive has never been more than just proposals.
In the early 2004, pt bangun mitra mandiri, which is a company under the agung podomoro group, started a surprising movement. They planned, designed and executed a prestigious mix-used project right at one site in braga street. Without even mentioning the notion of ‘revitalization’ this project has changed the shape of such a legendary area.
Even though it is a mix-used project emphasizing on retails, the catalyst of this project is housing. The apartment and hotel in this project is projected to become the captive market that will bring back the strategic economic value of braga area.
That is indeed acrusial point within the braga city walk project. In one side there is a captive market with high consuming ability and large scale of retail to support the revitalization of braga, but on the other side there is a possibility that this area as well as the surroundings will be overloaded due to the potential business competition being created afterwards, being actualized by the building of similar projects in the near future.
